The gallery ceiling is lowered by over a metre and is centrally supported by a single column: under the regime of financialisation all space is permanently reversible as far the profit motive dominates and regardless of whether space is empty or full. Indeed, emptiness is not a barrier for the landowner, space persists as collateral, as virtual value, no matter how architecturally solid. In fact, every space is always already empty, overshadowed by its impending redundancy (just consider the sheer extent of Covid-induced real estate evacuation). While this use of space is both absurd and oppressive, it potentially presents openings through which space might be used differently and for contrary, materially unprofitable, purposes.
